A New Mission Statement

After months of discussion, conversations, reading and study our church officially adopted a new mission statement earlier this week. I like it because it's simple, easy to remember and to the point but I guess you can be the judge of that...

"...to make disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, love one another and serve the world."

It seems to go well with Jesus' commands to, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." and "Love your neighbor as yourself."

I like the new mission statement. Real to the point. How does a new mission statement change how the church does things? Does this look different in practice than the old mission statement? Just curious.

Joe: the "$6 million" question(s). i think the thought is to use this new, clear mission statement to "measure" the different programs our church is doing to see if they are moving people along in their discipleship.

will this look different...i would guess for some programs it will mean some changes and for others, it will serve as an affirmation of what is already being done. should be pretty interesting to watch it all unfold.
